Miss K was supposed to clean the play room tonight. She did not. I told her mommy would be mad. When she got out of bed a few minutes ago to tell me she isn't tired, I told her to go clean the play room. "In the middle of the night?” she exclaimed. “I've never done THAT before."
I didn't think it would work, but a few minutes later she came back into the office (where I'm putting the finishing touches on the digital copy of my new book, Not Quite There) and said, "daddy, I think I will go clean up the play room just a little bit so it’s not so hard tomorrow.” I told her that was a good idea.
Five minutes later she was back. Here’s the transcript:
K: I cleaned up just a little bit (holding thumb and index fingers close together) so it will be not so hard tomorrow.
D: OK, good thinking.
K: I only did the left side, so I think it will take probably 50 hours tomorrow.
D: 50 hours?
K: Yes.
D: OK, I will let mommy know.
K: But I think mommy will still be mad because that could be like twenty fifty one hundred hours.
D: OK, I’ll let her know.
Did I mention the paperback of my book is available for immediate purchase? It’s only fifty twenty one hundred dollars.
